🧱 Brick Friday Newsletter

As the world rushes through another Black Friday, hunting for bargains and deals, I couldn’t help but think of it a little differently this year. For me, it feels far more like a Brick Friday - a moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate how the power of LEGO® has shaped the past few months of workshops, talks, coaching, and creativity.

An Introduction to LEGO® Serious Play®

In September, I had the pleasure of running an introduction to LEGO® Serious Play® session, hosted by the Agility Community of Practice at Flutter UK&I in Leeds.

Participants were guided through hands-on exercises that encouraged creative thinking, collaboration, and storytelling using LEGO® bricks. The session revealed how powerful a simple set of bricks can be in unlocking new perspectives, fostering dialogue, and surfacing ideas that might otherwise remain hidden. It was inspiring to see everyone actively engaged and discovering the value of play in solving real-world challenges.

Six Bricks, Six Ways at Lean Agile Scotland

At the end of September I had the pleasure of running my session Six Bricks, Six Ways, at Lean Agile Scotland.

Participants explored multiple techniques to express ideas, share perspectives, and uncover insights that often remain hidden in conventional discussions. The session highlighted how a playful, structured approach can break down barriers, improve team communication, and inspire innovative thinking, all within a surprisingly short time frame.

I was recently invited onto the GrowthPlug podcast, where we explored how playful learning and hands-on creativity can transform the way we think, lead and communicate.

New Certified Facilitators of LEGO® Serious Play®

Earlier this month I ran another Certified Facilitator of LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator training, and it was a truly energising experience. Over the course of t2-days, participants explored the playful world of LEGO® bricks while learning how to guide teams through meaningful conversations and problem-solving exercises.

The training was packed with fun, from hands-on building challenges to creative storytelling exercises. There was a tangible sense of excitement as participants discovered how simple bricks could unlock fresh ideas, spark collaboration, and reveal hidden insights. And of course, there were plenty of “a-ha” moments - that instant when a participant sees the potential of LEGO® Serious Play® to transform thinking and communication.

By the end of the training, we celebrated three new certified facilitators, each ready to bring this powerful method into their teams and organisations. Seeing them step confidently into this role was both inspiring and rewarding, a reminder of how playful exploration can lead to real professional growth.
